Wood County (pop. 74,000) is located in central Wisconsin. Its population is 91% white, with relatively low levels of college attendance and a median household income below the state average. The county was politically competitive during the 2000s, voting for Republican presidential candidates and Democratic gubernatorial candidates. During the 2010s, it began to vote more reliably Republican.
