Chippewa County (pop. 66,000) is located to the north of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. In fact, a small sliver of the City of Eau Claire extends into Chippewa County. Politically, the county leans Republican. Its income, age, poverty rate, and population density are typical for the state, while its racial makeup is more white and relatively few residents have graduated from college.

The former include the city of Chippewa Falls, the Town of Hallie, the villages of Lake Haille and Cadott. The latter include the towns of Colburn, Estella, and Cooks Valley.
