76 Municipalities
This chapter provides statistics on all Wisconsin municipalities–that is: cities, towns, and villages. The previous county chapters show statistics for each municipality within the given county. In Census Bureau parlance, these municipalities-within-counties are called “minor civil divisions.” In Wisconsin, many cities and villages straddle county lines. Sometimes, portions of a single municipality are in three or more counties. Towns cannot cross county lines but town names may be repeated in different counties. In the tables below, the county in which each town is found is included in parentheses after the town name.
All the data in this book presents election results for municipalities as they existed at the time of the election. Some municipalities have grown or shrank due to annexations. A few have been created or ceased to exist as part of a new municipal incorporation.
The table below shows simplified election results in each municipality since 2000. A comprehensive file including candidate names and third parties can be downloaded here.
